12. Special features

- The Applied Mathematics major not only provides students with modern mathematical knowledge, but also equips students with some basic calculation skills, trains logical thinking, analytical ability, solves practical problems quickly and effectively at work and other soft skills.

- Students experience the real working environment outside the school through the vocational internship course; participate in workshops and seminars in fields related to the Applied Mathematics major.

- Some subjects in the program are taught by foreign professors.

- At least 10% of specialized subjects are taught in English.

- The training program is interconnected with the Faculty's postgraduate programs.

- Bachelor of Applied Mathematics graduates have the ability to work in fields such as quantitative finance, insurance analysis, data analysis for economic sectors and have the opportunity to work in all socio-economic sectors that require mathematical thinking or participate in teaching Mathematics - Information Technology at all levels.

15. Guidance on implementing training programs and ensuring training quality

15.1 Training plan:

The Bachelor's program is designed for 4 years of study and will be divided into 8 semesters.

Students must accumulate 105 credits to do the Graduation Thesis or study a subject to replace the Graduation Thesis

Based on the standard training plan of the program, students can proactively build a study plan suitable to their abilities to achieve the best learning and training results.

15.2  Conditions to ensure training

Facilities, technology and learning materials: The training program is organized at the School with the requirement of ensuring the conditions of facilities, technology and learning materials to meet the implementation of the program; at least there must be a system of classrooms, equipment for practice, experiments, information technology, library, learning materials, learning support management system, training management according to the requirements of the major/group of majors to help learners achieve the output standards of the training program.

Teaching staff:

The teaching staff is Professors, Associate Professors, PhDs, Masters with prestige and rich teaching experience. There is at least 01 PhD in the appropriate field to preside over the organization and implementation of the program and there are at least 05 PhDs with appropriate expertise to preside over teaching the program. There is a sufficient number of lecturers to ensure that the ratio of students to lecturers does not exceed the prescribed level for the training major.

For subjects and topics with high practicality, the Faculty invites experts from agencies, research institutes, non-governmental organizations, enterprises, etc. to present and convey their experiences to students.

Curriculum: The curriculum has been designed by the Faculty's Science and Training Council and has been approved by the Rector. The curriculum will only be changed after receiving recommendations from the Faculty's Science and Training Council and the Rector's approval.

15.3 Training methods

The training program is organized according to the current regulations on organization and management of university-level training according to credits of Ton Duc Thang University.

Learners are exempted from subjects such as IT, English, or subjects completed in other training programs according to the regulations of the University. Registration for subjects in each semester must ensure the requirements of the subjects specified in the training program framework, English academic regulations and other relevant regulations.

Teaching method: Teaching method follows a learner-centered approach and the subject of the training process, promoting learners to be proactive and make efforts to participate in learning activities; effectively orienting learners to achieve the output standards of each subject, each component and the entire training program. Improving learners' self-study and research capacity; Strengthening teaching combining theory and practice, promoting the application of knowledge into practice, combining many flexible forms of teaching organization such as group work, discussion, presentation; promoting teaching combined with businesses, scientific research.

Assessment methods: diversify assessment forms to suit the output standards of the subject; Assessment of learners' learning outcomes must be based on process assessment and final assessment; as a basis for timely adjustment of teaching and learning activities.

Teaching and assessment methods are specifically shown in the detailed outline, subject records and the lecturer informs the learners in the first lesson.

The program is designed in comparison with the training programs of prestigious universities in the world with adjustments to suit the educational conditions and career needs in Vietnam.

Work in quantitative finance, analyze and estimate insurance premiums, analyze data for economic sectors, stock companies, investment funds, credit institutions, banks.

2. Statistics

1. Introduction

     The undergraduate programme in Statistics at Ton Duc Thang University equips students with basic knowledge and skills related to probability, mathematical statistics, data analysis and statistical computing. With the rapid development of big data and data science, the demand for these skills has increased significantly. Bachelor of Statistics has the ability to handle problems related to data collection, synthesis and analysis, as well as the ability to build statistical forecasting models.

     The academic staff for the programme graduated from prestigious universities at home and abroad, have good capacity in teaching and scientific research, and have a lot of practical working experience.

     In addition to learning professional knowledge and skills, students studying the undergraduate programme in Statistics are also trained and nurtured with many essential skills for sustainable development, such as self-study skills, team building and leadership skills, presentation skills, critical thinking, etc. Students experience the real working environment at businesses through the internship graduation course. - Statistical operations at state statistical units in Vietnam, such as the general statistics office of Vietnam, the statistical offices of provinces and centrally run cities, and the statistical offices of districts, towns, and cities;

- Synthesizing, reporting, and analyzing statistics on socio-economic indexes at departments, branches, and sectors at all levels of government from central to local;

- Data analysis specialists at market research, insurance, securities, and financial companies;

- Teaching courses on statistics and probability at universities, colleges, and vocational schools in the Vietnamese education and training system;

- In addition, with the expertise in collecting, analyzing, and reporting statistical data learned, graduates have the flexibility to adapt to other jobs in many socio-economic fields.

In the 4th Industrial Revolution, Statistics is considered one of the key majors with great employment potential. Recent survey results show that 100% of Statistics graduates from TDTU find jobs within 12 months of graduation.
