Lecturer from the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics presented at a qualified specialized workshop in Quy Nhon

During the summer of 2026, Assoc. Prof. Le Ba Khiet from the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics—at the invitation of Prof. Patrick Combettes—delivered a presentation at the Summer School and Workshop on "Optimization and Decision Theory" in Quy Nhon. Prof. Patrick Combettes, a Distinguished Professor at North Carolina State University and a world-leading expert in optimization algorithms with over 32,500 citations, hosted the event. Assoc. Prof. Khiet presented on "pair monotonicity," an effective new tool for non-convex optimization developed by his research group.

The event was also honored by the presence of Prof. Tran Thanh Van, a world-renowned physicist. Prof. Van has played a pivotal role in connecting numerous prestigious international scientists—including Nobel laureates—with Vietnam, thereby fostering the development of the country's scientific community. He also contributed to establishing the Odon Vallet Scholarship Fund, which provides significant support to Vietnamese pupils and students.
