On December 12, 2025, the Mathematical Science Conference combined with the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for students was held at the University of Science, Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to promote scientific research and academic exchange in the field of mathematics.
The 3MT competition, inspired by the model of the University of Queensland, is an academic platform where students present their research in 3 minutes with a single static slide, thereby honing their ability to condense ideas and communicate scientifically.
The program attracted 20 3MT entries, 20 scientific reports, and over 300 student participants from 6 universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Two projects from the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics, Ton Duc Thang University, were selected for the final round of the 3MT competition, including:
-
"Analysis and comparison of the effectiveness of three numerical methods for solving boundary value problems" was carried out by the student group Nguyen Tuan Quynh, Ho Thi Ngoc Huyen, and Nguyen Duc Hoang.
-
"Solving Nonlinear Systems of Equations Using the Newton-Raphson Method" was carried out by a group of students including Pham Tram Anh, Lai Thi Bao Tram, and Tran Tan Tai.
Both these projects were supervised by Assoc. Prof. Tran Minh Phuong, lecturer of FMS. Below are some photos from the presentation:
