Journal Club 04/2018 – Dr. Nam T. Phan

On April 09, 2018, Dr. Nam T. Phan presented his work on “Recent progress on ionization problem and related questions” in Journal Club of Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics. Dr, Nam T. Phan currently is a professor at Department of Mathematics, University of Munich.

Abstract: The conjecture states that a neutral atom can bind at most one or two extra electrons. While it is well-known experimentally, proving this fact rigorously from first principles of quantum mechanics is one of the most challenging problems in mathematical physics. I will discuss some recent results on this problem and related questions.
