Besides teaching, the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics also places great emphasis on scientific research activities, aiming to grasp the latest scientific knowledge to continuously improve the quality of training and contribute to making Ton Duc Thang University a prestigious research university in the region.

The traditional research areas of the faculty are:

- Numerical analysis and applications.

- Ring theory.

- Inverse problems in mechanics and physics.

Recently, along with the opening of a new training program in Statistics, the Faculty has collaborated with several universities in Vietnam and abroad to research several areas in statistics such as:

- Multidimensional statistics.

- Classification and clustering problems in applied statistics.

- Multidimensional nonlinear regression.
