Analytical and Algebraic Methods in Optimization Research Group (AAMO)

1. Introduction

The Analytical and Algebraic Methods in Optimization (AAMO) research group, headed by Prof. Dsc. Phan Quoc Khanh, is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). AAMO focuses on the application of optimization and algebra to science and engineering.

2. Mission and vision

The vision of the Analytical and Algebraic Methods in Optimization Research Group is to become a prestigious research unit, contributing to promoting in-depth and interdisciplinary research directions in the field of Optimization in Vietnam and internationally, especially through the application of modern tools of Analysis and Algebra.

The group's mission is to develop theoretical and applied methods in Optimization through high-quality research, training young research human resources, and expanding domestic and foreign academic cooperation to create practical contributions to science and technology from the period of 2025–2030 and strive to develop further in the next period.

5. Cooperation and other information

+ The group cooperates with researchers from institutes and universities nationwide, especially in the South, the Institute of Mathematics in Hanoi, and countries around the world such as the US, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Poland, Australia, Korea, China, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Iran, Chile, ....

+ The group regularly organizes international quality seminars. The current strong group is a restructure of the Faculty's Optimization Research Group established in 2022, this group develops the activities of the Southern Optimization Group which started the seminar in 1993. From 2022, Ton Duc Thang University created conditions for the seminar to invite prestigious international professors from many countries such as France, Spain, Greece, Australia, China, Czech Republic, Chile, ... to report.

+ The group has chaired and is the core of regularly organizing international conferences on mathematics at the school every 1-2 years. In particular, in the last two years of 2024-2025, the international conferences ICAM 2024 and IWAM 2025 brought together mathematicians from all 5 continents and invited reports from the world's leading experts from the US, UK, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Greece, China, Australia, Chile, Hong Kong, Thailand, ...

+ The group continues the tradition of its predecessors to develop a sustainable group and contribute to the community, paying special attention to supporting and inspiring young teachers with research aspirations. In particular, the group has guided 27 PhDs and nearly 200 masters.
