On March 27, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai province and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Drug Testing, successfully organized a scientific conference commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the discovery of Ngoc Linh Ginseng. The event aimed to affirm its status as a "National Treasure" and promote the development of a national product brand.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Vo Hoang Duy (Vice Rector of TDTU) affirmed that this is a concrete step towards realizing the cooperation between the university, businesses, and localities. This collaborative model plays a key role in preserving and elevating Ngoc Linh Ginseng to a global level. The event was attended by leaders of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, representatives from the Ministry of Health, and many leading experts in the fields of medicine and pharmacy.
The conference presented numerous in-depth studies on gene identification, the development of pharmacopoeia monographs, and the standardization of ginseng quality. Reports were presented by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc (TDTU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thi Ha (Institute of Medicinal Materials) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Ke Long (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) provided crucial scientific basis for distinguishing genuine from counterfeit ginseng, protecting the brand's reputation.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also respectfully expressed gratitude to Traditional Medicine Practitioner and Pharmacist Dao Kim Long and the scientists who laid the foundation for research on Ngoc Linh ginseng from 1973 to the present.
One of the most important results was the signing of a research and technology transfer contract between TDTU and Vingin Joint Stock Company. This agreement paves the way for the application of strong research results from the Faculty of Pharmacy at TDTU into practical production, contributing to the creation of high-value products from the nation's precious medicinal resources.
