MSAC's Seminar 14/04/2026
On Tuesday afternoon, April 14, 2026, the Mathematics and Statistics Academic Club (MSAC) held a meeting with a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Pham Duy Khanh from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education on the topic "Fundamental Convergence Analysis of Sharpness-Aware Minimization (SAM)" in the field of optimization applied to AI, at the invitation of Assoc. Prof. Le Ba Khiet, MSAC academic advisor.
The SAM algorithm is a transformation of the well-known Gradient Descent (GD) algorithm, widely used in AI. SAM helps avoid sharp minimizations, contributing to improve work efficiency. Although used very effectively by AI researchers, the convergence properties of SAM have not yet been proven, opening up exciting opportunities for researchers and students to participate.
